Finally, finally, finally. After numerous trips to Home Depot and 4, yes FOUR, different colors of paint, the dining room wall is painted and FINALLY we are happy with the color. Let's recap.
Color 1: "Formal Khaki" My ass. This was a lovely sea-foam green that would accent some great shiny black and pink 80's decór. YUCK.
Color 2: "Cup of Cocoa" We'll give 'em that- it did indeed look like a cup of cocoa in the paint can. So delicious looking, we almost drank it. But we didn't. Instead we painted the walls with it and it turned out to be a nasty peachy-beige color that would be great in our grandparent's homes, but in ours, it just wouldn't do.
Color 3: "Formal Khaki with a shitload of additional tint" We brought this original gallon back to Home Depot and they added a bunch of different tints to get it darker and browner. We thought we liked it, so we painted the wall with it. In that can, it was looking good, but on the wall, it was a blah sage green, that in combination with our red living room, it looked like it was Christmas 365 days a year in the McKenna-McMillan household. I looked at it and said, I could live with it, as did Rob, but it just kept staring me back in the face screaming that it belonged in the kitchen of a middle aged women. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to be a snob here, but I didn't want to settle.
Color 4: "Chester Grey" We choked up the extra couple bucks to get the Ralph Lauren paint and tint on this one (all the others with Behr colors and paint). Alas, we have a couple walls that look super nice! This color is perfect. Not too green, not too beige, just RIGHT!
Thank goodness... The paint fumes and psychedelic color changing wall were just starting to go to my head. Now with the wall done, we can get the house in order, so hopefully by next Saturday when my mom gets here it will look respectable!
Ah yes, as I type this Rob is chipping or putting (don't know the correct term here) some foam golf balls across the dining room to the living room and Mikey is making gallant attempts to catch them- he actually does jump up and grasp them in his little paws once in a while. What can I say, Mikey is a natural "golfer". :)
